Memory: Natsume – ☼ "What are you doing here by yourself?" (Vol01, Ch03, various)
From which Game: Narcissus game
Form that was Taken: Memories, form of a shiny gold-tone ring. You'll only get one use out of it, though, and if you wear it or rub at it or scratch it enough, you'll realize it's some other less-nice metal underneath.
Things to note:First, as a note, ignore all of the present day Natsume panels because those are in other memories. This is basically a childhood memory.
This clears up a lot of questions that he had earlier with his other memories! Why did he want to live alone? Because he felt like he didn't belong anywhere. Why couldn't he talk about youkai and had to live by "telling lies"? Because people would laugh at him or think he was weird. Why does he appreciate friendship so much? Because loneliness is painful and he has been living with it for a long time it seems.
Also some other notes.
☼ He knows other people can see demons in his present timeline, but as a kid, no one else could.
☼ No family. Shuffled around through relatives who obviously don't want him.
Results:
+ 100 more sensitive to youkai in general. They weren't very pleasant in this memory.
+ 100 don't want to be a hindrance to anyone
+ 500 trust issues
+ 1000000 Appreciation for the world of Aather because everyone can see what he sees.
